Service Description

Interpreting is a way of translating words from one language to another, usually in real time. There are two main types of interpreting: simultaneous, where you interpret as the person is speaking, and consecutive, where you interpret after they have stopped talking. Interpreting has been around for a long time - in fact, it predates writing! There are many ways to deliver interpreting services, but the most common is on-site interpreting. This is where the interpreter is physically present with the people who need to talk to each other. Another way to deliver interpreting is by telephone. With telephone interpreting, the interpreter speaks to people over the phone. This can be useful if there is no on-site interpreter available, or if all the people who need to talk are already on the phone. Finally, there is video interpreting. This is where interpreters work remotely, through video and audio feeds. The Types of Interpretation Work we conduct includes: 1. Conference interpreting is the process of translating between two languages at a large meeting or conference. This type of interpreting has decreased in popularity in favor of simultaneous interpretation in the last 20 years. 2. Escort interpreters provide interpretation for people or groups on tours, visits, or business meetings. This form of interpreting can be necessary for business contexts, during presentations, investor meetings, and business negotiations. Therefore, escort interpreters need to be familiar with business and financial concepts to best communicate between parties. 3. Sign Language: One important aspect of sign language interpretation is accurately conveying messages between a deaf and hearing individual. Interpreters help facilitate communication for both groups. Signing occurs when a deaf person signs, and the interpreter renders the meaning into spoken words for the hearing party. The act of interpretation goes both ways, with the interpreter also voicing what a deaf person signs to the hearing audience.
